The Ashford Country Fair will be held at Bel-Air on May bank holiday Monday. Old-fashioned fun for all the family. Cake and home produce stalls. Farm skills competition. Pets corner. Dog show. Plant stall. Farrier demonstration. Sheep dog demonstration. Kids corner. Crafts. And much more! Dog classes include: Most obedient dog. Most likely to take home dog. Best small dog. Waggiest tail dog and Best dressed dog.

Show jumping clinics with Nick Cousins. Evenings Wednesdays 15th and 22nd May. These are open to club members only. Queries and bookings, contact Noni on 087 2794392.

We will run 2-day training camps in June. 12-13 June (Advance Primary riders), 19-20 June (Intermediate Riders). More dates to follow. It will be a mixture of riding, theoretical horse management and practical stable management. The camps are open to riding school and riding club riders. Cost: 200 euro. On 15th of April at 7.30 in Brennanstown Riding School the South Leinster Region, AIRC are having a training demonstration - Improve your Practical Horse Care Skills - at 7.30. Also, on 29th April at 8pm in the Bel-Air Hotel - An Evening with Jillie Rogers, BHSI, BETCM. More details under EVENTS.

Our Events page has been updated with cross country training dates on 20th and 24th April and in-house Hunter Trials in May. We will be having the Team Challenge and Picnic in June. Some May dates are still to be confirmed for SJ training.

Please note that you cannot train or enter club competitions unless your club membership has been renewed. Memberships are still coming in and most of you have renewed already. Memberships will be sent in to AIRC every two weeks. Please ensure your membership is paid before entering competitions to avoid disappointment. The membership form is available here on the website under Events (info).

If you are not receiving club text messages, please let Noni know. Also Club Membership Subscriptions are now due. Please note that any late subs will be sent in every 10 days or so. If you need your card for an upcoming event rejoin in lots of time- otherwise you will be disappointed

Last year we had a fund-raiser at Bel-Air for Johnny Byrne who had a tumor in his heart. His only option was to go to London for treatment. At Christmas the surgeons removed the tumor. Last week Johnny was given the all clear and is now cancer free. Johnny sends his thanks and appreciation for all the help and support he has received over the last eighteen months.

We can now choose whether we want to receive the AIRC Link-Up magazine through the post or through email. To receive it through email, you need to change your account settings on the AIRC website. Go to www.airc.ie and click the Login link. Then change your Link-Up preference to email.

We have received some important information from AIRC. ABOUT ALL NATIONAL AIRC SHOWS: A. All HORSES PARTICIPATING AT NATIONAL EVENTS HAVE TO BE REGISTERED WITH AIRC. There is no fee for this, but it is mandatory. If you want to do the national show juming championships 19th July, you need to get your horse registered ASAP. (Postal entries close Fri 3rd July. Online entries close Fri 10th July.) It seems the horse has to be registered BEFORE you can make your entry. B. ONLINE ENTRIES - Starting with the Show Jumping Championships in July, entries to national events can be made online on the AIRC website. It is also possible to enter through the club secretary on a special form, available from the AIRC website. ALL RIDING CLUB SHOWS: A reminder that all riders must make their own entry at the show, and present their ridingclub card on the day. It is not ok for one person to bring several riders' cards and enter everybody.

There is a simple way to protect your Ifor Williams horse-box, and make life a bit more difficult for people who steal horse-boxes to sell them on. Ifor Williams keep a register of their boxes; who owns them and whether they are reported stolen. To keep this register up-to-date, you need to do the following: BEFORE YOU BUY A SECOND-HAND BOX – Take the serial number of the box. Phone Ifor Williams to check that it is not reported stolen. AFTER YOU BUY A NEW OR SECOND-HAND BOX – Register it in your own name. Keep the number safe, so you know it even if the box isn't there. IF YOUR BOX IS STOLEN – Report it stolen to Ifor Williams.
